Satan`s God – human ear poison (cassette)

Captain`s log stardate 11.11.2012 we`re entering Satan`s God zone. We are experiencing some minor turbulences, damn straight. Imagine this we are in 2012. This is the age of communications ( and yet, there`s so many lonely folks out there). Now let me introduce Jeremy Bequette (Satan`s God), he likes: audio tapes, records, VHS tapes and plays NES videogames. Yes you heard me right the old school eight bit videogame system itself. Which means, he hates CD`s, DVD`s, and the internet. Definitely not technology friendly. Hey, I respect that. To each is own. I also respect originality, integrity and doing you`re own thing (without giving a damn about trends and whatnot). The pseudo intellectuals (and wannabe hip bullshitters) would define Satan`s God sound as bass guitar wankings and noodlings. Me think he`s more into bass experimentations and improvisations with noisy undertones (now that`s really intellectual, donations of free beers are accepted here). I heard a lot of his recordings over the years. Unfortunately, I`m not a fan. I`ve said it before, I`m blasé because I heard  a lot of similar sounding material before. But this time around, I`m impressed. I think he recorded a masterpiece of evil bass modulations \ improvisations \ experimentations. This is dark stuff. I heard this with my headphones on (full volume) an I was feeling  a cold shiver running down my spine. Contact here:

M-31 – untitled (bootleg tape)

I got this as a trade. The only information that I have is that M-31 comes from Florida, USA (didn`t find anything on the internet, yes it`s that obscure). Upon receiving this tape, the first thing I did was to transfer it, edit it and convert it as mp3 files. I enjoy listening to music on me mp3 player on a daily basis. How can I define this album ? It`s simple if you`ve never been exposed to noise before, than this is definitely noisy material indeed. Personally, I would say that this is a mixture of minimal low-fi, cosmic space noise with light darkwave  ambient undertones, uh, what da hell ? That`s exactly what I mean. It feels like I`m passing through a vortex at sublight speed and I`m actually enjoying every seconds of that lil bumpy ride. M-31 recalls at times `Securitron 451 - darkmatter` album. With the exception that it has a darker , more spacy (inside a black hole maybe) sensibility.  There`s 10 tracks on this album (all titled untitled, nice) and they`re all mighty tasty morsels. l include more contact information when I find some, signing off.

Tales from Tom the drunk hustler part 1

When I was a young chap (a couple of centuries ago) I would go clubbing / cruising every weekend with my two friends. There`s Pat, the small, tough as nails, silent rebel, and also Chris, the loud mouth, accident prone type. Last but not least, I`m Tom, the one in the middle.

Bukowski 2012 AD

Needed a drink
Walking on St-Laurent street between René-Lévesque & St-Catherine`s
The old red light district
It still looks rock and roll after all these years
A couple of old spots are still open
There`s Frite Dorée

The new Montréal Pool Room

Man the old one was so much better
I can still smell those amazing hot dogs

Strong mustard with some unreal cabbage mix
Damn !
I`m drooling just thinking about it
I remember going in around three o`clock in the morning
After all the clubs are closed
Walking in there gozungus out of my mind
Yep
Those dogs hit the spot that`s for sure
Damn !
Café Cléopatra`s still open

Man that strip joint is still active
Those strippers are definitely wild ones

The things they`d do for a plastic bag full of baking soda
Pete`s Tavern closed down
I remember playing pool and hustling vagrants
For a fucking glass of beer
It costs about a buck fifty
Hey, it`s a matter of principle
Why pay for alcohol
It could be free if hustled properly
I almost got my ass beat up a couple of times
But I was younger then and ran faster too
The good old days of lost youth and innocence
The Midway`s open

Man what a dive this is
I was dancing with this cute blonde
While someone was trying to pickpocket my wallet
That evening that dude discovered that
The best boxers \ brawlers are left handed
Might as well go inside for a cold beer
It`s still the same hellhole
The blue jukebox is still located near the entrance
Still playing the same kind of music
There`s the usual choice of
Led Zeppelin
CCR
Bob Marley
Santana
Eagles
And a good mix of bluesy stuff
Blues Travelers
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Big Bill Broonzie
Robert Johnson
Howlin` Wolf
Some Muddy Waters too
Beer drinking music
You know what I`m saying
None of that top twenty shitty crap
No rap
No techno
No lounge
No punk
Nor folky indish pseudo intellectual mierda

I sit down and order a beer pitcher
Yep the place is the same
Like going back in time
Some twenty something years ago
I`m the Marty McFly of dives
MCFLY !!!
They have a pool table
That`s new indeed
I`m too tired to hustle anybody
Besides I see a couple of cockroaches fornicating
Under the pool table
Might as well watch the show
They seem to do it like humans
I wonder if they have orgasms
Do they come loudly like
OOOHHH BAYBEE !!!
I also wonder if they talk after sex
Imagine their post coital conversations
Listen those are your eggs
Therefore they`re your problem
Or
I came here for a drink not to get laid
Or
I gotta stop drinking
Who was that I had sex with
No I don`t want to know your name
The possibilities are endless
We don`t  need TV here
Look around
The entertainment is everywhere
A fight is about to erupt at the bar
This guy is trying to sell some bad quality shit
Someone`s shooting up in the men`s washroom
The guy next table is discreetly  taking a leak on the floor
It`s so dark nobody sees him
I hear him urinate though
A guy comes in trying to sell some stolen DVD`s
Gimme 20.00 $ and threy`re all yours
I`m not interested buddy
10.00 $ and you can have them all
leave me alone moron
go fuck yourself !
that`s exactly what I`m doing
the waiter comes in grabs the DVD`s
and throws him out
collateral damage my man he says
he gives me a free beer pitcher
to heal my wounds
or to forget about what happened
hey, I`m easy what can I say
it`s getting late
3 o`clock last call
last chance to get laid before closing time
self-collapsing part-time oblivion
indeed
now it`s really late
staring at my eyes
mouthwash cigarettes
the stench of the last drop
last chunk
droppings on the floor
leftover peanuts on my table
the perfume of old, humid cigars
3-d fucking smell-o-rama
a dive is a dive after all…

art is everywhere part 2....

Heres' more flyers i.e. 'artistical' ephemera. The following pieces are actual flyers that I received by old school mail. They're pretty incredible. Check them out and maybe you'd like to contact those fine folks of the underground.

Here's more of Thompson' s amazing colour collages.
He' s also a really decent person.

Meatball Machine – live at undergrounds coffee house 23-06-2012 (bootleg tape)

An amazing (but too short for my taste) , 32.57 minutes Meatball Machine live performance. It starts off with low-fi static, slowly becoming more and more distorted, then the beats kick in. And boy do they fucking kick in. We hear loud percussions (kinda techno, nearly hip hop, but mostly gabber territory) mixed with some distortion and some unidentified movie samples, nice. It feels like a rollercoaster ride, damn, it never stops. The concert lasts for the first 27 minutes. Then we`re treated with some right wing religious crap, just what the doctor ordered. It defines  (for me) what all organized religions represent. The exploitation of humans by humans for control purposes. A few celebrities attended the concert. And here`s what they had to say:
`The last call of human technology going haywire` (Sicko & Eggdog).
`Bollocks! Got some smack ?` (Sid Vicious)
`HOOO WHAT A RUSHHH, in ma head` (Hawk)
`Shoulda stayed in rehab` (Amy Winehouse)
 `Where`s  my  shotgun?` (Kurt Cobain)

Friday 14 December 2012

It`s been a year already ?

On Wednesday, December the 14th 2011, I went to hospital Maisonneuve-Rosemont for a hip replacement surgery. They inserted, inside my right hip a six pound metal prosthesis, which looks something like this:

Now, for the folks out there who know me in real life, not on this virtual side, I suffer from a rare genetic and degenerative disease `ankylosing spondylosis`. It`s not deadly, just degenerative i.e. you won`t die from this but it can make your life less bearable (sometimes painful as hell too). This sickness fuses my neck bones and my spine bones together. It limits your mobility and agility per se. There`s no cure, no operation, no treatments for this condition (except painkillers, unfortunately it`s a temporary solution). For some unknown reason, the bone of my right leg is slowly going inside me right hip, causing me to limp. It puts me in terrible pain, sometimes when I  walk, i.e. limp, my hip would make  weird noises, like a creaking wheel.
About three years ago, my rheumatologist suggested that there was a chance to have a surgery on my right hip (to insert a prosthesis). I got an appointment with an orthopedist and after a scan and some tests he told me that he could definitely perform this operation. I was really happy because I would gain some long lost mobility, I would walk straighter, stop limping and especially have no pain. I was ecstatic, this was a big plus in my life. They put me on twelve months waiting list. It was long but I didn`t care. How long is a year in one person`s life, eh ?
The following year I got sick on my birthday. I caught a severe case of infectious cellulites. I was hospitalized for two weeks and was on sick leave for almost two months. I lost my spot on the waiting list for said surgery. The hospital but me on a priority list. A couple of months later performed the surgery (on December 14th 2011). The operation was a complete success. The next step, the healing and rehabilitating process.
I was doing physiotherapy exercises in my apartment religiously three times a day, seven days a week. I used a cane to walk, just for personal security (i.e. not to fall on me arse)  reasons. It was a slow, but somewhat regular process. I felt like a turtle, I was improving, nice and slow, nice and slow that`s the way to do it. I was slowly getting there indeed. This lasted three months, more or less (from 14-12-2011 to 19-03-2012). Again, what is three months in one`s life ? Nothing that`s for sure. I just realized when I woke up this morning it`s been a year since the hip surgery. I physically never felt better. How fast does time flies when you`re having fun. A year ? Bah, humbug.
People are so fucking shallow department. Before the operation I was limping. And at work not too many girls where looking at me. Now, surprise, surprise a lot are looking at the improved, stronger, more technology me. To me those are worthless shallow damsels only interested in what`s outside (looks) and not what`s inside (persona). I`m not angry or pissed off I find this kinda funny in a sarcastic way. Folks like that represent what`s wrong in this so ah, ah, ah modern day and age. Everything, art, love, friendship, is A CONSUMABLE, FlAVOUR OF THE DAY PRODUCT. Until the next fad steps in. Now that`s evolution my brothers and sisters testify and represent indeed.

A letter to a psychic vampire (google it):

The following was written last year before my hip replacement surgery. I feel it's still relevant even today. After all, we all encounter some kinda psychic vampire at least once in our life. Here goes:

A letter to a psychic vampire (google it):
By: Francois Marceau  (27-07-2011)

When I look at you I see we have a couple of things in common. We both come from dysfunctional families, and we have to deal with various shit.
But the similarities stop here. Let me tell you why.
I come from a dysfunctional family, but it` s still my damn family, weather I like them or not (and that` s irrelevant), I still respect them
because they` re family.
We have to deal with various shit in life, everybody has to. That` s
life dammit ! The difference is simple. While the only thing you do is
bitch, whine and complain endlessly, I actually try to do something with
me life. Imagine this my man, everyday you limp, use a cane to walk, live
with a degenerative genetic disease. And you know there` s no cure, no treatment, and no operation for this sickness. Sleeping is a luxury for me,
the pain I endure has a tendency to wake me up when I least expect it. Do you often hear me complain about this ?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO….
Everyday I` m stuck with this crap I just try to deal with it as best as
I can that` s all.
And another thing, life is short. The only true justice is you will  die
one day and you don` t know when. Our time is limited. As we grow older
time is a luxury we don` t have anymore. Why don` t you try to enjoy it as
much as possible. That` s a  fact Jack !
Life has good and bad moments. I` m selective I prefer to
remember the good moments they` re more enjoyable indeed. I prefer to remember the last time I got laid than to remember all the other times I got rejected or laughed at because I limp.
And another thing when you talk about karma. Let me be redundant and repetitive here because it seems to take a hell of a long time for you
to understand anything outside your own limited, little frame of thinking. Karma goes like this: when you throw crap, shit or nastiness in the air it comes back at you with interest brother. When you throw good things
in the air  the goodness also comes back with interest (like the five
hundred dollars I won a couple of weeks ago remember).
I could talk about you for hours but you` re not worth the effort. I
don` t feel like giving you more fuel i.e. napalm  to feed your negative energy per se. I will make it short and simple. Someone I know thinks
you` re a psychic vampire (always sucking up energy) personally me
think you` re a cockroach. I` m not talking about physical appearance here more like a state of mind. A cockroach thinks like this: if I can` t eat than you
won` t eat either, or if you eat and I don` t I will make sure you will never eat again. Because you` re miserable you have to make people around you feel miserable too. So you won` t feel lonely, with your inner demons, your own little miserable personal hell you seem to cherish, enjoy so much.
Adios !!!

Securitron451 – darkmatter (mp3)

I got this as a trade item. Never heard of Securitron 451 before, so I googled it. I discover it`s a free download (and how cool is that). It reads on their website that you can tag their music under: ambient, dark ambient, electronic, experimental, industrial, space noise and noise sci-fi (what a list!). There`s seven tracks on this short album (less than 30 minutes). I wish it was longer because I really enjoy this.  The music is a mixture spacy synth, minimal atmospherics, percussive / noisy elements   with some dark psychedelic undertones thrown in for good measure. It would make an amazing soundtrack to the following movies: Forbidden Planet, 2001 A Space Odyssey and Solaris (the original Russian version).  This recording conjures deep feelings of claustrophobia. Feels like you`re alone inside a space station, and you`re slowly running out of oxygen. Help!

Mick Jagger – invocation of my demon brother (1969) (mp3)

The soundtrack to Kenneth Anger`s short movie. I viewed recently a bunch of Anger`s  flicks. He shot some homo erotic material (not my cup of tea) and some magically oriented stuff (now that`s what we`re talking about). The first time I watched `Invocation of…`I was in awe. What a strange, bizarre piece of art. What ? Mick Jagger recorded the soundtrack ? The singer from The Stones ? What the hell ? This sounds drastically different. It was created using a good, old school Moog synthesizer. After the first listen it sounds like mindless synth noodlings with light noise bursts. But then again, I`ve listened to this numerous times. And what does it sound like ? Ritual ambience maybe (?) mixed with a psychedelic, rhythmic pattern. An evocative, repetitive, hypnotic, psychedelic voyage into dark magick territory. An incredible sonic acid trip, circa 1969.

Obscure album reference here. It sounds a little bit like `Pascal – the sixth ear (1972)` album. The exception ? This baby was recorded earlier in time, indeed. Survey says ? Download this, damn!!!

Not Portfolio friendly

We are all our worst critics. I`ve been drawing since I was thirteen. I`m forty six years old. That`s thirty three years of artistic creations. Which means I should have a huge portfolio, not. You see, I`m a perfectionist i.e. I`m rarely satisfied with what I create. Be it music, poetry, various writings and drawings. Before, I used to throw away (or sometimes give away) drawings that I didn`t like. I know, throwing out your very own creations sounds terrible, and it is. Now, I`ve made amends, I`ve changed my evil ways. I don`t throw them anymore. Those drawings that won`t make it on my portfolio, I simply store them in a box. I plan on uploading some once in a while. I will let the good folks out there be the judge. This is part one of an ongoing series of God knows what.
It took me about ten minutes to draw this during my lunch break. Check it out!

Introducing Mr Swiz

From 1998 to approximately august 2008 I would go to Fichtre bookstore

(every two weeks) to purchase cool local stuff. They would sell mostly comics, zines and some electronic music. That`s where I discovered Vromb (amazing local insectoid experimental techno), Aphex Twin (UK weirdo techno) and Autechre (excuse me while I slowly vomit). I bought and traded a lot of zines, and a few comics. They would also have a small section of original local artwork for sale. One Saturday afternoon I was there scoping out zines next to the cash register. That`s when something behind the counter caught my eye. There it was, small black and white art pieces hanging on the wall. How can I describe this ? Psychedelic drawings with a punk, urban attitude maybe ? Here, look at them (you be the judge).

They were selling them five dollars a piece. I had twenty dollars left so I bought four of them. I went back the following week unfortunately everything was sold out. About a month later, I met the artist, the talented Mr Swiz. A soft spoken and shy person. I asked him what kind of pen or brush he was using. He introduced me to the PENTEL GFKF JAPAN brush

I bought one at a local art store. I tried it and it was love at first sight. I still use the same brush today. Whenever I find some Mr Swiz  art in a comic or a zine, I always (if I have enough money) purchase said item. I really like his drawings. Sadly, Fichtre bookstore closed down circa 2010. I don`t know if Mr Swiz is still active. You can find more info here:

Drones For The Bones (2009-10-15) (mp3)

I enjoy surfing the internet. My favorite website is www.archives.org . They have tons of great freebies: movies, mp3`s, softwares, ebooks, etc, etc. I enjoy  various music styles. After listening to a lot of noise and experimental music, I need a break, I need to relax. When I read the name `Drones For The Bones (2009-10-15)`, I couldn`t help myself. So I downloaded it. This is a long (19.27 minutes) track of peaceful, relaxing, spacy, ethereal drones. An amazing chilling out piece of music. It feels like you`re floating in midair and touching the sky. Pure ambient bliss indeed. Just what the doctor ordered. I urge you to get this one.

Awesome mail art

A couple of days ago I received this small parcel courtesy of Node Pajomo himself. He gave me a cool mini mp3 CD-R.
There was three mini albums inside. The first one was a demo of `The Screamers` from 1977 \ 1978. Here`s a couple of band pics:

I never heard of `The Screamers` before. Their music was real good at the time but I couldn`t stand that annoying high-pitched whine through the whole recording. I remember about twenty years ago or something listening to `Voivod` one of the heaviest metal bands on the planet. It was a similar situation, everything was
absolutely perfect except the damn voice. The singer was good but It  didn`t feel
like his voice could match that heavy, aggressive style.
The second album is a couple of demos from `Vaccumm`. I don`t have much info regarding this band except that their members we`re all shit workers at `Maximum Rock&Roll zine`.

I like this, it sounds like good old crusty hardcore (amateurish angry, intense, in your face, pissed off). Just what the doctor ordered indeed. Last but not least we finish this mini CD-R with a couple of tracks from the likes of DMS. `Derelict Mosquito Spontaneity` Node Pajomo`s solo experimental noise project. He recorded everything with his Ipod. I wonder what kinda software he used. This sounds really good. The four tracks sound like spacy ambient noise, relaxing stuff. This is user friendly, it    never goes into harsh noise territory (forget about Merzbow, MSBR, or Knurl).      DMS is one of my three favorite experimental noise artists out there. I also adore `Napalmed` (he`s my favorite of all times) and `Meatball Machine`.  Inside Node`s parcel was this incredibly amazing art piece.

Anyways, it`s a stamp but it`s an artistic stamp no doubt. Pretty nice, eh ?
